The level of acidity in your blood can affect your health, ranging from your physical health to mental and emotional wellbeing.
Acidity is simply a range within the PH balance. It is measured on a PH scale, which ranges from 0 - 14. The normal blood pH ranges from 7.35 to 7.45. If your blood pH is less than 7.35, your blood is considered acidic.
According to scientific studies blood acidity is a result of our nutrition, as well as our general lifestyle. Diet choices such as a high sugar and/or fat intake, alcohol consumption and additional toxins (through medication, prescription drugs, our environment, etc) increase our likelihood of having a high level of acid in our blood. Another type of food that could increase your blood acidity is anything that contains yeast (such as breads, pasta, pizza), as these contribute to the level of uric acid in the body which results in higher blood acidity.
How can we decrease the level of uric acid in our bodies?
There are several ways of improving your lifestyle that would results in less uric acid in the body. Essentially, the better your body detoxifies itself, the less uric acid builds up in your body and in your blood.
Drinking 1,5 to 3 litres of water daily would prevent uric acid crystals forming and also helps to excrete them from the body. For example, drinking water is considered as one of the most important remedies for gout (which is caused by excess uric acid) as people suffering from gout would usually experience dehydration that often results in the formation of gout crystals.
Some studies report that vitamin c can lower the uric acid on the blood. The best option is always to consume fresh, organic fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C to increase your intake. Alternatively you may decide to take a supplement.
If you are feeling unwell and think it may be due to an increased level of uric acid in your blood, you should increase your water intake and eat more fresh and organic fruit and vegetables, and alkaline foods. At the same time you should decrease your intake of toxins by reducing your consumption of alcohol, unhealthy fats, and sugar. You should also refrain from smoking.
The more alkaline we can keep our bodies, the better our body functions: anything from cell re-generation, to our internal organs working efficiently, to glowing skin and healthy hair. Blood acidity and acidic bodies are only a part of that puzzle.
